Chavey Jones here with another Leg Blog for y'all.
This week I will be giving all of you some info on the history of the band. To start we have been together for nine years now and still going strong with the original members, but, there was a time where we were one member short. When we first decided to start this adventure, it was, Weskey Kile on keyboard, Jonesin' Joe on drums and myself on bass. No vocals, just instrumental. We had 12 original songs that were a lot of fun and way different from anything I had ever played before. It went that way for about a year or so. We felt that since it was going so well we didn't need a guitarist or vocals.
At some point Wes and Joe thought the idea of adding a member to the group and writing some lyrics was the best way for the band to grow. I wasn't so convinced at first. I felt things were fine the way they were and why try to fix something that isn't broken. Boy was I wrong. So finally, we talked about it and already had in our minds whom we wanted to join. That person was Aaron Christopher. Not only was Aaron a perfect fit musically, but the chemistry that flows through us is untouchable. One thing I tell people who ask how we have managed to stay together this long is because of our chemistry. Now of course there are many other reasons but that is one of the main ones. You can be the best musicians in the world but if you don't have that bond, it's never going to work. With Aaron agreeing to join us with no hesitation we quickly got to work. The next step was to start writing some lyrics. This, to my surprise, was quite easy and came rather natural. Between Weskey and myself, we were able to get a nice flow when it came to writing and before we knew it, the time had come to start looking for a place to record.
We found a place in the Colfax area called, Flying Whale Productions. It was a fun experience testing the water to see how we work together in the studio. We ended up trying out a different place called Pus Cavern in Sacramento, where some big name bands have recorded such as, Cake and Deftones. This was the right move for us. It didn't take long for us to decide that this was the place for us to record our first album, and we did just that. We were so happy the way it turned out that we decided to record our second album at Pus Cavern as well. We are hoping to be done with that in a few months.
Well I'd say that's enough of the story for Part 1. I will be back to share more about us in the weeks to come. This is Chavey Jones wishing yall a good ol' and best fishes.
